Welcome to our CACT clinic
The Center for Accessible Communication Through Technology (CACT) was founded by Diana Sánchez. The mission of the CACT Clinic is to empower individuals with complex communication disorders, particularly those from culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds, through specialized assessment, therapy, and the integration of assistive technology. Our specialized team combines traditional methods and assistive technology to provide personalized treatment plans that meet the needs of every patient. We strive to create an inclusive, empathetic environment in which our patients can feel safe and comfortable in discussing their needs and challenges without fear of judgment or stigma.
Speech-language therapy
Speech-language therapy is a specialized field focused on diagnosing and treating communication and swallowing disorders. Speech-language pathologists, work with individuals of all ages to address challenges related to speech sound production, language development, fluency, and swallowing difficulties. In addition, they work on social communication skills. Speech-language therapy plays a crucial role in improving overall communication and quality of life.
Assistive Technology
The Assistive Technology Industry Association defines Assistive Technology (AT) as “any item, piece of equipment, software program, or product system that is used to increase, maintain, or improve the functional capabilities of persons with disabilities” (Assistive Technology Industry Association, 2023). Assistive Technology (AT) plays a critical role in aiding individuals with disabilities; both pediatric and adult patients can gain access to academic curriculums, integrate into the professional workforce, and actively participate in community activities that foster independence and healthy living. Augmentative and Alternative Communication is an assistive technology that aids verbal or written communication.
